Summer Is in Full Swing at The Gateway School for the Performing Arts
Summer is officially underway at The Gateway School for the Performing Arts. Our first Summer Session opened on June 29, welcoming students of all ages for an exciting month of acting, musical theatre, and production classes. While Session 1 is in full swing, it’s not too late to join us this summer. Enrollment is now open for Summer Session 2, which begins August 3.

As the educational branch of Long Island’s oldest professional theatre, now celebrating its 77th Season, The Gateway School for the Performing Arts gives students the unique opportunity to train where the professionals perform.
Broadway Close to Home
At The Gateway, students don’t just learn about theatre. They experience it firsthand.
Students rehearse in the same spaces used by our professional MainStage productions and learn from experienced teaching artists and industry professionals who foster creativity, collaboration, discipline, and self-confidence.
From first-time performers to dedicated young artists preparing for auditions and conservatory training, our programs are designed to help every student grow.
Summer Session 2 Begins August 3
Our summer classes meet four days each week in engaging mini-intensives that allow students to explore acting, musical theatre, improvisation, and production in a fun, supportive environment.
Enrollment is now underway for Summer Session 2, beginning August 3. Classes are available for students of all ages and experience levels. New students receive 50% off their first class when they call to register.
Conservatory Children’s Theatre
Is Now On Stage
Our first Conservatory Summer Children’s Theatre production, The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition, opened on July 3 and continues through July 18.
Follow Dorothy and Toto down the Yellow Brick Road on an unforgettable adventure through the Land of Oz. Alongside the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, audiences will discover that courage, friendship, and home are the greatest treasures of all.

An interactive family spectacular filled with comedy, music, giant bubbles, bubble volcanoes, bubble roller coasters, and unforgettable audience participation.
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s
Cinderella Youth Edition
August 21 through August 30
A timeless fairy tale brought to life by the next generation of performers, filled with unforgettable songs, magical moments, and heartwarming storytelling.
As part of The Gateway’s Sensory-Friendly Series, a special relaxed performance of Cinderella will take place on August 22.
Designed for neurodiverse audiences and individuals with sensory sensitivities, this performance features a welcoming, judgment-free environment with accommodations that allow everyone to enjoy the magic of live theatre comfortably.
The Gateway’s Sensory-Friendly Series, which includes both MainStage and Children’s Theatre productions, is made possible in part through a generous donation from The Jeanine Heller Foundation in memory of former director Pastor Frederick I. McElderry, whose love of the performing arts and steadfast dedication to supporting young people continue to inspire our work today.
