In May our AdvoKids series focuses on Harvey Milk Day! Harvey Milk, who grew up on Long Island, was one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States. During this program visitors will learn about Harvey Milk’s impact and legacy. Visitors will then decorate a pin featuring Milk’s well-known quote “Hope will never be silent” in support of this day.
“AdvoKids” is a monthly series focusing on children learning what it means to be an advocate for themselves and others. Adults will learn how they can support their child’s self-advocacy efforts, which promote confidence, resilience and empathy.
This is a drop-in program; the pin takes approximately 10 minutes to make and it is yours to keep.
