As spring approaches, many parents are also planning their kids’ extra curricular activities. Swimming is a popular activity in the summer, but Goldfish Swim School offers year-round “perpetual” lessons so that children ages 4 months to 12 years old can learn to be safer in and around water throughout the year. What are perpetual lessons?
Swimming is a life skill, and perpetual lessons give children the best opportunity to gain the confidence they need to be safer in and around the water. Each student learns at his or her own pace. That’s why, at Goldfish Swim School, they advance to the next swim level when they’re ready. Sometimes this can take a month, sometimes six. And that’s okay, because Goldfish believes in safer swimmers and skill mastery above everything else. Even more, it has been proven that kids who consistently take weekly lessons learn at a faster pace.
Students who start swimming lessons in June, stop when it gets cold in November, and start back up again are more likely to be rusty when they return to the pool versus the children who have been working all the way through. Katie Lee, a water safety expert at Goldfish Swim School in Garden City, equates this to learning a language or any new skill that requires practice. Time away can reduce a child’s confidence and ability to rely upon their life-saving safety skills in the water. Benefits of Goldfish include a beautiful and modern facility with 90-degree water year-round, as well as hair dryers in locker rooms.
If you’ve had issues with scheduling with other programs in the past, scheduling at Goldfish is flexible. There is no new session registration process and if you’ve become comfortable with your weekly lesson time, you can count on being there, at the same time and same place week after week. Weekend and evening classes are available and families can also take advantage of make-up sessions.
